Former EGF City Attorney and 1999 committee fellow insist EDHA loan scandal was innocent error

by Timothy Charles Holmseth

Karl Lindquist and George Wogaman are singing in two part harmony.

In 1999 (former) EGF City Attorney Karl Lindquist – breaking from regularly accepted protocol - hand-delivered the Boardwalk Enterprises Mortgage to EDHA Director Jim Richter – who then never filed it.

It was not discovered until 2014.

In 1999, Lindquist was also a member of the EGF City Administrative Committee that worked to create and approve the Developers Agreement for the project.

Serving on the Administrative Committee alongside Lindquist in 1999 was George Wogaman.

Since the news broke in 2014 that a $510,000 loan used to finance the Boardwalk Enterprises project had never been serviced, and the Mortgage never filed, two local men have been very public about their feelings that the unpaid loan was simply an ‘innocent’ mistake due to a ‘chaotic time’.

Those two men are Karl Lindquist and George Wogaman.

On May 15, 2014 Karl Lindquist wrote a letter to the Grand Forks Herald declaring it was all likely a mistake due to chaos.

On May 27, 2014 George Wogaman sang the same song at an EDHA meeting.
